Filter trains

May 11, 2007

No its not a new train company. I’ve added a new feature to the results page so that trains can be filtered in or out.

For example if you want to travel from London to Manchester you’ll probably find two types of journeys. The direct  train from Euston to Manchester or one where the journey is broken at Strafford. The new filters allow you to either only show direct trains or trains with 1 or fewer changes or train on a particular route or trains within a certain timeframe.

Enjoy.

Bookmarkable journeys

May 2, 2007

If you make the same train journey often. It can be a pain to type in the same 30-40 characters to find out train times.

So the results page is now bookmarkable. Just bookmark the results for a journey and you can visit it anytime to see

trains for that trip. In addition to this if you don’t want to wait for the homepage to load then you can just say

http://www.telltrains.com/timetable/from/to

Put the name of the stations in place of from and to.

Maps for stations

May 2, 2007

Though the station names suggestion list has a location for each of the stations.

For example: if you type newp

you get this list

  • Newport (Gwent, Wales)
  • Newport (Essex, South East England)

I really like the idea of looking at a map to get the feel for where the place is.

So for the stations where I have a lat/long available I’ve added a map link, if you click on it, it’ll show you the map of the place.

Suggesting station names

May 2, 2007

Over the past couple of days I’ve been working on the station names list. Everyone loves google suggest, so I decided that it would be a cool thing to have the same thing for stations. So instead of typing a name and then searching and then picking out the “proper” name from a list, you can just type in the name and pick the station you want to travel from.
